Job, family, kids—you could easily be busy 24/7. Anything that saves a little time here and there is welcome. Here are a few tricks and ideas for saving snippets of time that, over the course of the day, can really add up.
Think about how much time you spend separating lights from darks and colors from whites. Save that time by putting a sorting hamper (or a couple of smaller hampers) in each kid’s room and in your own room. Clothes can be sorted as they’re put in the hamper, giving you one less thing to do on laundry day.
Do Two Things At Once
Try using your (empty) bathroom garbage can as a bucket when cleaning the bathroom floors. Rinse it out first, then fill it with a cleaning solution and rinse it again when you are done. Then you'll have clean floors and clean garbage.
Use Leftovers Wisely
Have leftover lemons that may go bad before you have a chance to use them again? Squeeze ‘em into an ice cube tray and freeze. When the cubes are ready, store them in a bag and pull one out when a recipe calls for a tablespoon of juice.
Do Things When You Have Time
Choose your next-day’s outfit the night before. That way you can check to be sure it’s clean and wrinkle-free while you have time to wash or iron it. Consider investing in a valet stand to keep hanging clothes from wrinkling.
