Theme Ideas for a Toddler Room
As with designing a nursery, putting together a room for your toddler is easier with a theme. You can take your cues from toddler bedding, or you can come up with your own ideas. If you’d rather your little one’s room not be cookie-cutter, check out these unique theme ideas. Sometimes all it takes is a slight twist on the traditional.Train Station
Instead of “trains,” how about creating a mini train station in your child’s room? Use wainscoting in a darker wood around the room, and paint the rest of the walls in a neutral, off-white hue. For artwork, hang some photos of trains (both new and antique). A large chalkboard with a custom train schedule adds a fun touch. Instead of a lamp, look for an old-fashioned hanging fixture or two. A bench-style wooden toy box can serve as seating for “passengers.”
Hollywood Dressing Room
This theme is ideal for the budding actress in your life. Take your cues from the glamour days of Hollywood and add a whimsical twist. Wall décor can include vintage movie posters, as well as “glamour shots” of your little one. Create a star with your child’s name on it with wood or foam board attached to the outside of the bedroom door. Hang a mirror over the desk to use as a dressing table. A small side table with a round topper covered in a pretty fabric makes a glam nightstand. If you have room, consider a kid-sized sofa for lounging.
