I ordered the 87" rod for a 60" tub so that approximately 27" of the inner rod would bolster the strength of the outer rod and to minimize the distance between the wall and the transition between the inner and outer rod where the curtain hooks often get stuck. I use the hooks with the little chrome balls, and they don't get caught on the transition. Pros:
