Roll Up Shades

Choosing window coverings for your home is a fun project, letting you decide on colors and patterns and even the textures of your curtains. In addition to how the curtains look with your room décor, you must also consider the room's use and the amount of light the windows allow inside. Typically, the amount of light that comes into the room is important, depending on what the room is used for. If you need light control but not blackout curtains, roll up shades are a great option. These shades can simply be rolled up out of sight when you do not need or want them down.

Roll up shades can be chosen to hide behind your pretty, room matching curtains, or they can be the main focus of the window treatment in attractive colors and styles. BedBathStore.com offers several different varieties of roll up shades that provide decorative flair such as the Matchstick Bamboo Roll Up Shade by Versailles in various colors or the light Sheer Design Lace Roller Shade by Heritage Lace. Both of these window shades provide privacy and light control while also being attractive window coverings.

In addition to light control, roll up shades can also be used to alleviate privacy concerns. If you live in a busy neighborhood where people are walking or driving past your windows often, roll up shades can provide privacy for you and your family -- especially at night when it is easier to see inside windows. Roll up shades at BedBathStore.com easily do double duty for privacy and light control.

Roll up shades are a great solution when you are seeking window coverings that will provide privacy yet still allow for natural light to shine inside the room. BedBathStore.com offers you a variety of roll up shades to choose from such as our Felton Woven Roller Shade, which is a great choice for office spaces or rooms in which you want soft light. Our Lydia Woven Roller Shade is a great choice for privacy while still allowing most of the daylight inside. BedBathStore.com offers a great selection in window treatments. • Measuring For Shades
<Shades and blinds provide light filtering and privacy, but they also enhance the look of your room when they are hung properly. Once you’ve decided on the type of window coverings you want, you have to hang them. Getting the perfect look for your shades or blinds requires perfect measurements. Here’s how to get them:

First determine where you want to mount the shade: inside or outside of the window frame. Use a steel tape measure to get the best results for your window treatments. Take your time, and get a friend to help. Remember to double-check measurements for accuracy, and round down fractional measurements to the nearest 1/8 inch.

  • Outside Mounting
Measure from one outside edge of the window frame to the other twice: once for length, once for width. Go as far outside the frame as you’d like; there are no rules. Add about ¾ of an inch on each side to get your final number.

  • Inside Mounting
Measure the length from the top inside edge of the window frame to the top edge of the window sill. You can deduct ¼ inch if you don’t want the shade to touch the window sill. For the width, you’ll need to measure from inside edge to inside edge in three different places (most window openings are not perfectly square) and use the narrowest width.
