Installation Tips: You don't have to be a licensed plumber to install a toilet seat. It's easy!
Typically, the most difficult job of replacing a seat is removing the old one, but with a standard wrench, a screwdriver and a spray can of WD-40® penetrating oil, you'll find it quite easy.
To remove your old seat, loosen the hinge with a screwdriver or wrench. Remember your tools are steel and your bowl is porcelain, so be careful not to chip it. If the bolts are rusty or badly calcified, spray them with WD-40® penetrating oil. Let them sit for five or ten minutes and then try again. If they still won't budge, you might want to consider calling a professional.
Next, refer to the installation instructions included with your toilet seat or use the links below.
If your toilet seat comes with a double-adhesive washer, you should first affix it to the bottom of the hinge. Then place the seat on the porcelain and simply insert the bolts into the holes provided and tighten with a standard screwdriver. Retighten after a few days. |
