Nursery 101: The Basics
New parents-to-be often go a little overboard when putting together a nursery for their baby. With all the choices available today, itís not surprising. You might feel like youíll miss something important if you donít get everything. The most important thing to remember is that a newbornís needs are quite basic and those needs will change rapidly. Here are a few tips for ensuring you get what your child needs without buying the whole baby store.Furnishings
While itís tempting to completely outfit the nursery with a full set of furniture, you might want to rethink that. As your child grows, the number of toys and games they have will multiply. Going forward, youíll need all the room you can get. Consider just a crib, a rocker, and a dresser if you need it. Look for furniture that can be used as the child grows.
Itís possible that you may never have enough storage. At first itís baby clothes and accessories, then as your child grows it will be toys, clothes, and more toys. Get started right by incorporating as much storage as you can manage. A closet system is a great way to maximize space.
Keep a few sets of baby bedding on hand because babies tend to spit up and diapers leak. Having extras on hand will save you a lot of stress, especially in the middle of the night or when youíve had little sleep and laundry is not a priority.
