Natural Materials In The Bathroom

Nature inspires all forms of décor: floral and botanical patterns in traditional settings, sleek woods in modern ones and cotton and linen in all of them. The bath and shower are no different. No matter what your budget or taste, you can bring natural materials into your bathroom décor.

Stone Stone is an excellent material for the bathroom. It’s used in countertops, basins, tubs and shower enclosures. It’s moisture-resistant and will stand up to years of use. More importantly, it adds an air of sophistication to your space. Popular types include granite, marble, sandstone or limestone. An easy and inexpensive way to incorporate stone in your bathroom is with bathroom accessories like soap dispensers and toothbrush holders.

Wood Stained, painted or lacquered, wood works in any type of bathroom décor. In addition to cabinetry, you can use wood in your flooring, countertops and even your sink. Oak, teak and bamboo are excellent choices for the bath as they are naturally moisture resistant. As with stone, incorporating wood into your design can be as easy as buying a tissue box cover.

Wicker Wicker is a fiber hard-woven into a rigid material. It can be made of rattan, willow, reed or even bamboo. Natural wicker is strong and durable in addition to being beautiful. It is often used in outdoor furniture because of its resilience. In the bathroom, wicker is already a familiar material. Storage baskets, hampers, wastebaskets and more are available in wicker. This versatile material coordinates with almost any décor.
