Keep Overnight Guests Comfortable
While visiting friends overnight is a wonderful way to stay close with those who live far away, sleeping away from home can feel a bit off. Make your overnight guests more comfortable while they’re under your roof with just a few little touches.
Simple items like an easy-to-use alarm clock so they’ll always know what time it is can be a comfort. Not everyone relies on their cell phone and they are fairly inexpensive, so why not? It’s also good if they’d like to get up early and go exploring while you sleep.
Extra pillows, blankets or even an electric throw blanket can help guests be more comfortable in a strange bed. Nothing is worse than being unable to sleep because you’re cold or you don’t have the right number of pillows. A well-rested guest is a happy guest.
Make sure the room has a TV and a radio. Even on vacation, people like sticking to some routines. Watching the news or a sitcom before bed can be a way of winding down for sleep, while some people like to sleep with the radio on.
Have a stash of extra toiletries like shampoo, soap, razors, and toothbrushes available in the guest bathroom in case they’ve forgotten anything. It will save them a trip to the drugstore or having to go without certain essentials.
Make sure there is plenty of closet or drawer space for guests to unpack. Being able to settle in will help make guests feel more at home.
