Finding Decorating Inspiration
Just because you’re not an interior designer doesn’t mean you can’t put together a great looking space; all you need is a little inspiration
. And guess what? It’s all around you.
Design web sites abound, and you can glean great ideas by looking at what professional designers have done. You can also find tips and tricks in decorating magazines, along with the latest trends in color, fabric and furnishings.
But some of the best inspiration
comes from the most unlikely places. You can decorate a room around a favorite object, like an antique lamp or graphic movie poster. Build a look with different shades of your favorite color. Theme rooms are fun to create and are not just for kids. Think beach house, 1930’s Hollywood style or Tuscan villa. Or try to copy the style of your favorite sitcom character or movie ingénue. Nature offers some of the best inspiration
: Take a camera outside to find some interesting color and texture combinations.
Another way to find inspiration
is to simply go and fall in love with a look. Maybe you’ve shopped around and found a bed in a bag set that you have to have. These complete bedding sets usually include a coordinating comforter, bedskirt, sheet set and shams. Take that color palette, the pattern and the mood and let your imagination run with it.
