Double Your Decorating Pleasure
To expand your window decorating options, consider a double curtain rod. Double rods allow you to hang more than one set of curtains at the same window without a lot of hassle.
You can hang a set of sheers behind rich silk panels, creating color contrast and softening the look of the window. Or you can hang a set of solid color panels in back of a striped set for a unique layered look. Play with different textures by using two different materials like silk and linen. Rod pocket valances also work well with a double curtain rod
. You can hang your curtain panels on the back rod and the valance in front.
Anything you can do with a single curtain rod you can do with a double rod; you can just do more of it. They come in many different styles and finishes, with a variety of finials to choose from. Double curtain rods work with pole pocket drapes, tab tops, grommet tops and ring tops.
Measuring for a double curtain rod is as easy as measuring for a single. Simply measure the window and decide how far you’d like the rod to extend beyond the window. That number is the length of the rod you need. Many rods are adjustable and will list a length range while others will be one set length. Double tension rods
are also available. These require no hardware; the tension in the rod holds it inside the window frame.
