Dorm Storage Ideas
Space in a typical college dorm room is scarce: The rooms are small and you usually have to share your space with another person. Regardless of how much real estate you have available, you will most likely have more stuff than you have room to store it. Clutter is not conducive to studying and can interfere with your school work. Getting creative about storage
can take you a long way.
Look for furnishings that do double duty, like storage
cubes that double as seating or a table or chest that can serve as an extra seat by adding a cushion.
Carve extra inches from existing storage
space. Additional shelving can be added in the closet using hanging canvas bags designed to hold shoes, sweaters, and more. Other closet organizers provide extra drawer space as well. Bins and baskets can help extend the storage
capacity of shelves in the closet or bookcase. Small organizers can be tucked into drawers to help get the most out of that space. A dorm bed riser set can help open more space underneath your bed so you can store more bulky items like seasonal clothing, blankets and pillows. Bedside organizers tuck between the mattress and bed frame and hold TV remotes, phones and other items you want close at hand.
Dorms have plenty of wall space. Use that space for storage
and add shelving to hold books or other smaller items. Removable hooks are another great way to create space.
