Decorating the Nursery
One of the most fun parts of expecting a baby (other than expecting the baby) is decorating the nursery
. There are endless options available today, from playful to sophisticated. Which is one is right for you and your baby?
The best advice is to go with your gut. What do you like? You’ll be spending a lot of time in your baby’s room, what do you want to see? Is there a special feeling you’d like to create or something you’ve always envisioned? Answering questions like these will get you on your way to the perfect nursery
Once you know what you want, you can pull it all together. Choose your colors—don’t be afraid to choose several if you want—then find a coordinating bedding set and add accessories like area rugs, curtains, and nursery
wall decor. There are many choices available, but choosing just a few key pieces will lend the most impact.
Make sure you have adequate lighting for middle-of-the-night changings and feedings. Task lighting on the changing table will give you plenty of light for a diaper change without lighting the entire room. A three-way or dimmable lamp on table next to the rocker or chair will give you just enough light for feeding and lulling baby back to sleep.
Consider a using a light-filtering shade or curtains for the windows so you can keep full sun from disturbing your baby’s naps.
