Choosing Wall Art for the Nursery

After youíve decided on your nursery theme, chosen your colors, purchased your bedding and put it all together, youíre ready to add the finishing touch to your babyís room decor: wall art.

Nursery wall art has come a long way over the years, becoming more sophisticated and offering more choices than ever before. When deciding on what will grace the walls of your nursery, there are a few key points you need to keep in mind.

  • Keep It Simple
This is important if youíve painted a mural or other embellishment on the walls. Anything else you add to the room should work with whatís there, not compete with it.

  • Remember Your Theme
Be sure whatever wall decor you choose coordinates with the overall theme of the room. Pictures of balloons are perfect for a circus-themed nursery, but probably not a princess theme.

  • Donít Overdo
Donít clutter the room with too much artwork. Choose a few pieces that will stand out to enhance the look and feel of the room. Nurseries tend to be smaller, so cluttering up the walls with too much artwork can make the space feel claustrophobic.

  • Have Fun
This is a childís room, after all. Donít forget to bring your sense of fun with you when choosing decor. Even if you have chosen a sophisticated theme, thereís still room for a few whimsical touches. As long as your finds work with the room, theyíll be an ideal addition to the nursery.
