Choosing a Reading Pillow

If you enjoy reading or doing other things like using your laptop computer in bed, a reading pillow should be standard equipment for you. What is a reading pillow? It’s an extra supportive pillow that helps you stay comfortable in a seated position while in bed. There are several types of reading pillows, each with it’s own particular benefits.

  • Bed Rest Pillows
These are pillows that resemble a chair or recliner, with a thick, sturdy back and armrests. They are ideal for both reading in bed and watching TV from the floor of the living room. Their versatility makes them an excellent choice for any member of the family.

  • Wedge Pillow
Another option is a wedge pillow, which can offer support similar to that of a bed rest pillow. They are smaller than a bed rest pillow and have a triangle shape with no arm rests. These are also excellent for anyone who needs to sleep with their head elevated to relieve acid reflux.

  • Reading Pillow
Reading pillows are long pillows that run the width of the bed and are made to support your back as you sit up in bed. They often are part of a matching bed ensemble and can remain on the bed as a decorative pillow when not in use.

  • Memory Foam Pillows
Although not specifically created for reading, memory foam pillows work well for this purpose due to their firmness and support. These pillows also conform to your body shape, and give you added support.
