Choosing Holiday Bedding

If you’d like to add some fun to your bedroom during the holiday season, try some holiday bedding. Getting into the holiday spirit can be as easy as snuggling up to a holiday-themed set of sheets, a comforter, or an entire holiday set.

Most holiday bedding comes in flannel, a fabric made from wool (and can be blended with cotton or a synthetic fabric) that is warm and insulating. The quality of flannel is measured according to weight, usually expressed in ounces. Look for a weight of 4 ounces or more per square yard to ensure a good quality.

Once you’ve gotten the quality issue out of the way you can have some fun choosing your holiday bedding. You can find patterns specifically made for Christmas, or you can opt for a generic winter theme that can be left on your bed long after you’ve taken down the tree. Winter-themed bedding comes in many different patterns. Some are quirky and fun while others simply echo the colors and sentiments of the season. There are styles made just for kids as well as patterns that will work for anyone. If you’re not interested in a pattern, you can mix and match solid or striped sheets in seasonal colors like red and green.

As with any bedding, holiday bedding should be the correct size for your bed. Make sure the fitted sheets are deep enough for the type of mattress you have. Sets will usually indicate that they’re made for extra-deep mattresses.
